The OES visited the Concord Church on July 1, 2001 in Eaton, Ohio. Upon arriving to the church we noticed a sign in front of it that had the times of worship listed, so we knew right away that the church was still being used. It was a Sunday when we visited, but as with the 665 Church, no one was around. The sign in front of the church also clearly stated that the church was founded in 1840, which leads us to believe that's when the church was built. Particularly interesting about this church is the large steeple that has a platform on top of it. The view must be quite awesome from up there. There's also men's and women's outhouses and an old hand-pumped well. The Concord Cemetery is located across the street from the church, and is featured in our cemetery section. It started to pour rain while we were there, so we're not quite sure if the cemetery is older than the church, or if the church is older than the cemetery. Thanks goes to Corrine for taking us to this location. |
