Thanks to Steven Rosenthal for submitting his first-hand experience at the Roberts Road Farmhouse in Franklin County. He tells a story of hearing ghostly footsteps and seeing a dull glowing light near the tree-line. Both of these things were experienced by he and a friend as they were investigating the rumored hauntings in the area.
This past Spring, a friend of mine thought it would be fun to check out some of the ghost legends we've heard about in the area where we live. One such legend was that of the Roberts Road Farmhouse, where an axe murderer was said to have killed his family in the home. We had also heard that someone had hang themselves from a tree near the home. Well we got to the house around 11:00 PM, and man was it eerie. After looking around the house for a few minutes, we finally found our way inside. It was just as creepy inside as it was outside. I haven't been to that many abandoned buildings, so I'm not sure if all are like this one, but I was beginning to be freaked out. My friend John as brave as he is decides to call the ghost out. Nothing happened for a couple of minutes and I was thinking all of the stories we had heard was just a bunch of bullshit. Then all the sudden I heard footsteps start walking above us on the second floor. I looked over at John and he looked like he was going to piss himself. We decided to get the hell out of Dodge. As we were running from the house to the car, we both saw a dull blue ball of light floating along the trees to the side of the house. My first though is that it may had been someone with a flashlight, but as it was gliding along the trees, it went into a tree and disappeared. We finally reach the car and got out of there. It was the craziest thing I've ever experienced. Needless to say, we haven't checked out any ghost legends since.
