The OES visited the Slate Run Historical Farm on June 23, 2002. Slate Run Metro Park is one of the more active parks in the Columbus area. It is the only park of its kind in Central Ohio, with a complete living historical farm. It was a thrill seeing how life was lived in the 1880s, with farm animals roaming the grounds and people dressed in period clothing. The Gothic Revival style home used by the historical farm was built in 1856 and the barn was built in 1881. Both buildings were fully restored to how they likely appeared and were used in the 1880s.
