Fort Recovery
Homestead Restaurant - There are reports of a ghostly apparition of a woman seen in the restaurant and the lady's room door opens and closes by itself.
Mendon
Crybaby Bridge
- There are several legends that pertain to this crybaby bridge on Palmer Road.
One states that a man threw his baby over the bridge and killed his wife.
Another states the man killed both his wife and his baby, and then committed
suicide by hanging himself from a tree at the bottom of the bridge. Yet another
version says the family was under the bridge when the devil himself showed up,
killed them, and took them to hell. It is said that if you stop your car on the
bridge, turn off the engine and lights, and roll down all the windows, you will
hear the cries of a baby. After a few minutes a ghost will appear and move
through the hood of your car. When you attempt to start your car, it will not
start until it is pushed off the bridge. There may be something to the legends
here as the OES has visited the location. One of our cars would not start until
pushed from the bridge and a chilling EVP was recorded while on the bridge,
yelling "I will not deny my baby."

Dutton House - This abandoned house is said to be haunted by a man and woman who were murdered there in the early 1900s. The woman of the home was hung from a tree in the backyard. Sometimes a rope can be seen hanging from the tree that immediately disappears. Strange lights are seen coming from within the house even though there is no electricity or glass in the windows to permit reflections. (Thanks to Brian Hathaway for submitting this haunting).
Palmer Cemetery - This creepy cemetery is said to be haunted. One of the large monuments is said to glow green, but the glow can only be seen from a certain spot in the road. (Note: This is private property and permission should be obtained)
Tomlinson Cemetery - Also known as County Line Cemetery, this cemetery sits at the corner of Mendon Road and Mercer Van Wert County Line Road. It is local legend that if one person stands at the center of the cemetery, and another walks backwards around the cemetery, the person standing in the center will disappear.
Wesley Chapel - Also known as the Mendon Road Church, it is said to be haunted by the bell boy. Legend has it that before the windows were boarded over, you could see hell through one of the windows. There have been witnesses that did not know of this legend who had seen a red-orange glow in the basement window. Multiple people have heard mysterious footsteps just inside the front entrance of the church and the sound of pebbles being thrown. Others have actually been touched by something unseen while walking the grounds.
