| The OES visited the Groveport Road House on
May 28, 2003. Built in 1922, this house sat on Groveport Road
between Obetz and Groveport. As we entered, we noticed that the previous
occupants left a lot of little things behind, like records, jars of food, and
even the skeleton key for all the doors. We thought it was funny that unopened
packets of Nicorette were laying in a bedroom right next to an empty pack of
Winston's. Its always interesting to see these things, knowing that this empty
home was once full of life. Some life remained in the home, unknown to us at the
time. When reviewing photos of the house, we discovered a huge raccoon was
lurking in the attic as we explored just underneath it. Check out the picture
below. As usual of abandoned houses, this home's basement was a total mess,
complete with feces on the floor. It is not known if this home was haunted or
not, no unusual EMF readings were taken while in the home. The property was
bought in 2002 by Schmidt Development Company and was torn down in 2005 to make
way for a new neighborhood. |

Exterior & Ground Floor |
This is the house as it is viewed from Groveport Road. The old garage next to the home had a few left-over items in it. This tree next to the garage looked like it had been struck by lightening in the past. The side entry into the home. This old couch sat on the front porch of the house. This is the living room as you walk into the home. Another view of the living room. The bathroom was pretty much still intact. No broken toilets here. The kitchen actually still had some food left in it. The stove in the kitchen, with the jars on the shelf. The dining room of the house. Lots of trash was just thrown out of the back door.

Second Floor |
The stairway going up to the second floor. The very small hallway on the second story. This tiny room was barely large enough to have held a bed. This was the small, narrow closet of the second floor. The master bedroom was at the front of the house. The windows of the master bedroom. This bedroom was to the left in the hallway. Looking back at the door in the same room. This is the bedroom to the right from the hallway. It was by far the messiest room of the house. There were school books and papers scattered about. Look to the bottom right-hand corner of the picture. It is our raccoon friend!

Basement & Others |
The basement was a complete mess. Lots of goodies were left on the shelves down here. An old couch in the corner. It looks like the walls may have been fire/smoke damaged. Some poor explorer lost their flashlight. The record album was found in the master bedroom. This skeleton key was laying in the middle of the hallway floor. All of the Nicorette Packets that were laying in the right-side bedroom.
