General Information
The OES visited the Concord United Methodist Church on October 15, 2000. We knew right away that this church was still in active use because of an up-to-date sign in front of it with the times of worship and upcoming events. It was a Sunday when we visited, so we thought there might be some people there, and maybe be able to get some info on the church and take some pictures on the inside. Unfortunately no one was there. But from the evidence that was looked at, the church may date as far back as the 1820s. Reasons for this include: [1] The foundation of the church was made of limestone (a type of rock) which was common 1800s building material, and [2] There's an old cemetery next to the church, and while briefly looking at the tombstones, the oldest date found was 1819. This gives a rough estimate of how old this church may be. We have since returned to the church, finding it's name to be the Concord United Methodist Church. We also took pictures of the old cemetery there. There are plans to return to the church while people are there so we can gather more information. If you have any information about this church, please feel free to email .
