Carey
Lutheran Ridge
Cemetery - Located less than a mile north of the
intersection of State Route 568 and Township Road 95, a tombstone in the
cemetery is said to
contain a terrifying image. The image can only be seen at night, in the
headlights of a car. It shows Mrs. Copley's death, as her husband squeezes his
hands around her throat. It is said that the image appeared on a second
tombstone after the first was replaced and that anyone who sits atop the stone
will be cursed with bad luck.
Crawford
Crawford Statue - This statue near a farm just outside of Crawford marks the spot where William Crawford was killed by Indians in 1782. He was killed in retribution for the recent massacre of Indians at Gnaddenhutten (which Crawford actually didn't take part in). The Wyandot Indians made his death as painful as possible. He was tied to a stake, shot with arrows, scalped, and finally burned alive. It is said that on foggy nights at the site, you can still hear faint screams of agony. (Thanks to Adam Menentowski for submitting this haunting).
McCutcheonville
McCutcheonville Cemetery - This cemetery is said to contain a glowing tombstone. The glowing can be seen from Route 16 and Route 53.
