Bradford
Bradford Sanitarium - Built in the late 1920's, the Bradford Sanitarium burned down in 1935. Late at night, around where it once stood, witnesses have reported seeing orbs floating in the air.
Piqua
Fort Piqua Hotel - This old hotel is the site of multiple hauntings and deaths. A man digging a trench for the sewers was buried alive, a porter was crushed after heavy bags fell on him from a cart, and a workman standing on a barrel of acid fell through and was badly burned. A man hung himself in one of the rooms and when they were digging the basement, workers found an unexplained skeleton. On August 11, 1970 Piqua Patrolman Jan Mulder II was on patrol in the hotel's lobby. When he approached a suspicious man, the man pulled a gun, fatally wounding Officer Mulder. Before the police officer hit the ground, he managed to fire one shot at the suspect, killing him. A dead waiter haunts the building, as well as Stanhope Boal, who renovated the building in 1914. Many other unexplained and mysterious happenings are known to occur there. The building, for the most part, is abandoned, with the exception of the street-level stores and the apartments above them.
Troy
Crybaby Bridge - Troy's crybaby bridge is to the east of Troy, where LeFevre Road crosses Lost Creek, before you get to North Children's Home Road. A baby can be heard crying from beneath the bridge late at night. Legend says that in the 1930's, a couple were crossing the bridge and had an automobile accident. Their baby was ejected from the car and was never found.
David L. Brown Youth Center - This former Children's Home for orphans is said to be haunted. Mysterious footsteps can be heard in the third floor hallway. Room One is not used for some reason, many believe because of something in the room's past. A former resident had heard faint music coming from the room when no one was there. Footsteps can also be heard in the back stairwell, sounding like boots, and is believed to be the ghost of the youth center's namesake. Many children had died in the home due to illnesses and diseases, many still hang around in the afterlife.
Forrest School - The school is said to have been built atop Troy's first graveyard. Sinks in the girls' restroom turn on and off by themselves, and the voice of an elderly woman has been heard. Chalk in the classrooms have written by themselves. Years ago when there was a library, books would be knocked off the shelves for no apparent reason. (Thanks to Kramer Welker for submitting this haunting).
Grove Cemetery - This cemetery is known to be haunted by the ghost of a woman who was raped and murdered there while visiting her grandfather's grave in the 1870s. At night, one can hear footsteps walking around the woods and sometimes moaning coming from the far back left corner of the cemetery. On several occasions, witnesses have heard the shrieking of a woman near the tree in the middle of the cemetery.
Miami County Municipal Court - Several employees have experience hauntings in the court over the years. In particular, the Civil Department on the second floor is haunted by an older gentleman with gray hair, wearing suspenders, and is usually seen after hours. He is believed to be a judge from some years ago. Lights turn off and on by themselves, electric typewriters start typing, along with many other unexplainable occurrences. Footsteps and doors opening and closing can be heard at times as well.
Polecat Road - This old country road was the site of a motorcycle accident years ago. The man was not wearing a helmet and was killed when he veered off the road and hit a tree. Driving down the road at night, you can sometimes see a small green glowing orb off to the side of the road in the trees. On the same road, about a mile away from the accident site, is an old roped off trail. Supposedly this is where KKK members hold their meetings and sometimes hangings.
West Milton
Horseshoe Bend Road - A few children were playing hide and go seek in the woods along this road one night. When the children went to look for the boy who was hiding, they found him hung. It is said that if one goes on this road at night., stops their car on the bridge, and looks over the edge of the bridge, they will see an apparition of the boy come out of the water towards them.
