General Information
The OES visited King's Hollow Tunnel in May 11, 2002. Also known as Mineral Tunnel, it is located in the woods just a few miles North/East of the infamous Moonville Tunnel, also featured on this website. Just like the Moonville Tunnel, King's Hollow Tunnel was a part of the Marietta-Cincinnati Railroad. Not much information is available about this tunnel, however. We believe it was built in the same time period as the Moonville Tunnel, and may have undergone renovation around the same time as Moonville. Unlike the Moonville Tunnel, this tunnel is made of wooden railroad ties, not brick. It is also a little taller and longer than the Moonville Tunnel. After many years of abandonment, King's Hollow Tunnel seems to be holding up pretty well. Some of the wooden ties along the wall have been taken, or have fallen out, giving a unique perspective to how the tunnel was built. Thanks goes to Shannon for giving us directions to King's Hollow Tunnel.

 Location Information: Abandoned
The tunnel is near the intersection of Rockcamp and King Hollow Roads near Mineral, Athens County.
