| The OES visited Indian Run
Falls on March 11, 2006. These falls, like Hayden
Falls, seem a little out-of-place in the urban area surrounding
it. The falls are on a more gradual decline than Hayden Falls and
the top is not quite as tall. The water going over the falls
eventually ends up in the Scioto River just a few hundred yards
downstream. The area surrounding falls was the home of Wyandot tribe
members before settlers began developing the land. Today, there is a
rather high bridge that overlooks the gorge. When we visited the
falls, the area beneath the bridge was difficult to access, but the
City of Dublin recently installed walking paths and boardwalks to
make it easier to get to. |

Our first look at Indian Run Falls after hiking back into the woods. The falls are just about as high as Hayden Falls, around 25 feet, but are more gradual. A closer look at the falls. The falls are narrow at the top and widen at the bottom. The water moves pretty fast down the cliffside. Indian Run just before it reaches the falls. A large fault line next to the waterfall. Some sort of old foundation, perhaps for a bridge of some type, along the pathway. This long, narrow bridge now crosses the gorge. The ends of the bridge were fenced off, but the bridge seemed perfectly safe to us. Some poor kid lost their bicycle to the stream. A little further downstream is this waterfall. Here you can see the two sets of falls together. Looking at the falls through the wooded area surrounding the bridge. A close look at the second set of falls. Our last look at the falls for the day. Oh, one last thing...part of the gorge is private property, so no trespassing!! ;)
