The OES visited
Lockville Park on September 28,
2001. This is where we discovered Hartman Covered Bridge #2. Built in 1888,
Hartman II Bridge was once part of the Queenpost Truss and it spans 50 feet.
This old bridge originally spanned Raccoon Creek at Wheeling Road. In 1967 the
covered bridge was relocated to Lockville Park, crossing what remains of the
canal. Today, graffiti and carvings are spread throughout the inside of the
bridge. Some parts of the wall are also broken away. We do, however, rate this
covered bridge in pretty good condition. Along with the very large locks, the
Lockville Park is an interesting place to visit.
