Coshocton
Bouquet's Camp - The Revolutionary War Camp is said to be haunted by Col. Henry Bouquet. He is seen frequently on horseback and near the old watering trough.
Carr House - This abandoned house on State Route 83 is said to be haunted by it's murdered owner, George Carr. Carr was a heavy gambler and was shot by his poker friends for cheating. To this day you can still hear the sounds of a poker game going on inside the house.
Corner House - This is another abandoned house located at the intersection of State Route 541 and 79. It is said to be haunted by a man who came home, found out that his wife hadn't made him dinner, and then cut off her head and placed it in the oven. Hot drafts can be felt throughout the house and screams can be heard. The smell of burning flesh sometimes fills the air.
State Route 83 Gravel Road - On a gravel road off of State Route 83 is a large dip in the road. It is said that if one stops their vehicle just before the dip, a ghostly horseman can be seen in the mist. When the vehicle moves forward, the figure disappears. It is said that the man was hit and killed by a truck when he was trying to pull his horse across the road. (Thanks to Lauren for submitting this haunting).
WTNS Radio Station - This radio station is said to be build atop the former site of a mass unmarked cemetery. When a flood devastated the area, the remains were buried in a mass unmarked grave next to the Coshocton Tribune. In the WTNS studios, you can sometimes feel unseen hands grab you. There are mysterious sounds of rushing water and lights turn on and off by themselves. A ghostly man who constantly checks his pocket watch as if waiting for someone has been seen in the sales office. There is a definitive cold spot at the top of the stairs and on the way down the stairs, if feels as if you are entering a new world or time zone.
Cow Corners
Azbell's Farm - The farm is said to always be cold, even in the summer. It is believed that the land is an old Indian burial ground.
Roscoe
Old Sweet Shop - Also known as Captain Nye's, it is said to be haunted by ghostly children. Employees report hearing them whispering in the restrooms, but upon investigation, no one is there.
Roscoe Hardware - Employees report feeling odd cold spots and dampness in the air. The body of Matilda Wade was discovered after she was murdered by her husband and thrown down the covered-up well behind the store.
Triple Locks Theater - The theater is home to multiple cold spots and ghostly figures.
Warehouse - The laundry area in the sub-cellar is said to be haunted. It is also haunted by the ghost of an old lady and a ghostly child.
Walhonding
Murder Ridge - Now a stripped ravine that was extensively mined, this ridge was once home to a few families, one being the Reese family. According to local legend, the Reese's only son, Cletis, would kill travelers along Route 26 whose vehicles broke down. He used his tow truck, bringing their cars back to his garage, then killed the travelers, storing them at his farmhouse, and later eating their remains. He would disassemble the victims' cars and sell them for parts. Cletis was caught once he started selling the whole cars. He was convicted of eight or nine murders and sentenced to life at the Lima Correctional Institute. The victims of his murders are said to haunt the ridge. However, actual documentation shows that Cletis killed only three people in the 1950s and never ate their remains.
West Lafayette
Coshocton County Cemetery - The ghost of Mary Stockum is known to haunt the area. After her husband had killed their retarded daughter and was hanged for it, she vowed revenge. One by one her nine remaining children started to die. When the fifth one died, Mary was burned as a witch. After a sixth died, her body was dug back up and the head chopped off. The children stopped dying after that. The cemetery is haunted by Mary as she searches for her head and her children. Many hunters in the area have reported seeing her ghost there regularly.
