Andover
Pymatuning Reservoir - Once known as Pymatuning Swamp before it was dammed and filled, this reservoir is home to a ghostly galley ship. Sometime between the 1760s to the 1830s, the ship became lost from Lake Erie and drifted south into the swamp and the sixty foot-long ship, along with her crew, vanished. From that time to the present, the ship has been seen drifting in the reservoir, usually on foggy nights. Strange lights are sometimes seen on the water as well.
The Spillway
- The ghostly face of a girl has been observed under the water of the spillway
in Andover. Photos of the area have revealed what appears to be long locks of
blonde hair in the water. It is not known if this haunting is connected to the
Pymatuning haunting above.
Ashtabula
Ashtabula County District Library - During the construction of the library, a fire broke out in which a few people supposedly died and now haunt the library. Books fall off the shelves as one walks by and the basement is abnormally cold. The library will not allow anyone upstairs, where the fire supposedly started. General uncomfortable feelings are felt and there are feelings of being watched. (Thanks to Dennis Colucci for submitting this haunting).
Ashtabula County Medical Center - The ghost of an old woman has been seen roaming the hallways in early morning hours, usually between 1:00am to 4:00am. When she is seen by a witness, the security tapes do not show anything unusual. Slow moving footsteps have also been reported. (Thanks to Samuel Torres for submitting this haunting).
Chestnut Grove Cemetery - Known as the Ashtabula Train Disaster, a Pacific Express train traveling over the bridge on December 29, 1876 (carrying 159 passengers) derailed as the bridge it was crossing collapsed. Ninety people died, most of them burned alive while trapped inside the smashed cars. Legend has it that the ghosts of those who died return to the bottom of the bridge on the anniversary of the disaster. Those buried in the cemetery can sometimes be seen, walking among the tombstones, and have even caused mysterious images in photographs. The bridge engineer Charles Collins killed himself, and a couple of years later, the bridge designer and architect Amasa Stone killed himself. Collins' ghost is often seen at the disaster's memorial, leaning on it and crying.
East 48th Street Playground - The playground is said to be haunted by the ghosts of children who died in a school fire in the late 1800s on the site. Although the school burned to the ground, many parts of the old playground is in the neighborhood park. Those who play in the park often feel an "odd" presence, hear the laughter of ghostly children, and often hear the name David being called. They describe David as somewhat of an athlete as he causes them to fall or fumble the ball. The ghost of a girl is sometimes seen along the railroad tracks, she is thought to be an outcast and is seen the most often. (Thanks to RJ Rivera for submitting this haunting).
Conneaut
Tinker's Hollow - It is said that Old Mister Tinker, a miner, haunts the site. He can sometimes be seen riding his horse and buggy, and if you go under the bridge, you can sometimes hear his buggy pass overhead. It is said that you can see his green glowing eyes and that he'll lead you to his gold if you talk to him.
Geneva
Step Above Bar - The bar is located on the second floor of the building, just above a restaurant. Even though the restaurant closes at nine, the bar is open late into the night. Many patrons of the bar have reported seeing shadows in the restaurant late at night, when no one should be in there. Upon checking all of the entrances to the restaurant, they find them locked.
Walnut Beach - A ghostly man can be seen walking on the waters of Lake Erie, just off the coast of Walnut Beach. His ship had wrecked many years ago and the entire family drowned. It is believed that he is looking for his lost family. (Thanks to Oma Samulas for submitting this haunting).
Kingsville
South Ridge Road Fisherman - A fisherman who drowned near the creek next to the old well in the late 1800s is said to haunt the area. He had become entangled in his fishing net and drowned on Thursday the 12th, his body being found the next day. His spirit can be seen fishing on Thursdays with the net laying on a rock next to him. (Thanks to Dakota Bob for submitting this haunting).
Windsor Mills
Edgewood Cemetery - This cemetery is haunted by the oldest sister of the McAdams Family. When the family's mother passed away, she left the oldest sister to care for all twelve of the other children in the family. The oldest sister did not want to raise the children, so she poisoned them one at a time until they were all dead. The siblings' tombstones testify to their murders.
