Greendale School

The OES visited Greendale School on April 27, 2002. Just a few miles away from Haydenville, Greendale was once populated by workers’ families from the brick factory there. Now all that remains of Greendale are a few standing homes, some remnants of the factory, and this old schoolhouse. Not too much is known about the school itself except that it was built prior to 1923, perhaps as far back as 1890. It seemed to be used for storage when we visited. There were various materials scattered throughout the building. It seemed that the building had not been used as a school for quite a while. For more on the Greendale Brick Plant, click here. Thank you to Shannon and Rodney for showing us this location.
