 Marysville

5th Street Residence – Music from a doll can be heard at this home on West 5th Street, even when no one has been in that particular room for days. (Credits: Lauren)

The Castle Bed & Breakfast – Built in 1884, there are reports of seeing black shadowy figures and having eerie feelings while at the bed and breakfast. One report tells of hearing voices near the front door when no one is around.

Lentz Butler Tub Company – This large brick building stood on the west side of Chestnut Street and later became an auto parts store. It was during this stage of the building’s history, sometime in the 1970s, when employees began to hear mysterious footsteps on the stairway at night. Old invoices that were found would sometimes end up in the middle of the floor when employees would leave the room.

Ohio Reformatory for Women – It is said that long ago there was an inmate who was repeatedly raped. In fear that she would tell, the man killed her and made it look like a suicide. It is also believed that she was pregnant, but no one knows for sure. Inmates and some corrections officers have reported seeing her. She can sometimes be seen peering out the third floor window of the cottage where she was murdered. The third floor is now only used for storage. Others have said after they are locked in their rooms for the night, she will go around and unlock doors, as if checking in on the inmates. Her loud cries can occasionally be heard late at night. It is also believed that her ghost pushed at least one corrections officer down a stairway. She will not rest until justice is done.

Old Bag of Nails Pub – Humanoid figures are seen when no one else is in the area. Locked alarms have mysteriously been pulled and a picture in the men’s restroom falls off of the wall regardless of how it’s mounted. Footsteps are heard and pans, glasses and bottles move on their own on a fairly regular basis…especially at night. Related: Contribution

Stephen’s Lounge – Female patrons of the downtown bar often think someone is in the women’s restroom stall, only to find no one there upon further inspection. Related: Contribution

Raymond Elementary – The school presently located at the site was built in 1914, but a school has been on the property for more than 150 years. Mysterious banging noises and ghostly voices can be heard during the night. The library is where the sounds are heard most often.
