 Idaho

Beaver’s Ridge Road – People have claimed this road is haunted, but the exact location of the haunting is unknown. Witnesses have reported their vehicles stall for no reason and have seen a ghostly figure cross the road. After the ghost vanishes into the darkness, the vehicle will resume normal operation. There have been reports of weird feelings and the feeling of being watched if one stops along the road at night.

Red Bridge – It is said that if one stops their car on the bridge, honks their horn once and turns off their car, a ghostly vision will play in front of the vehicle. In this vision, a ball rolls across the bridge. A little boy comes out to get the ball and a speeding car hits him. The car drives off, leaving the boy extremely disfigured. Your vehicle will not start and doors will not open during the vision. When the boy thinks you have seen enough, the vision will end and your car will resume normal operation. (Credits: Joshua Holt)

 Wakefield

Big Run Road – Legend says that a fire broke out in the boiler room of the high school there during a basketball game. Several people died and people still visit the brunt school to this day. Some have claimed to see a cheerleader with her back turned. When she turns to face the witness, her entire front-side is burned. Others have reported their cameras malfunctioning while trying to take photos of the building. If you’re lucky enough to have a camera that works, people have photographed large red orbs. (Credits: Peggy Ward)

Emmitt Cemetery – This cemetery is supposedly haunted by the Emmitt sister buried there. One sister hanged herself and the other shot herself. A noos circles the “E” on one sister’s tombstone and the other sister’s tombstone had a statue of her holding a gun. The gun was broken off of the statue and is now gone. On certain nights, you can see the ghostly sisters roaming the cemetery. (Credits: Joshua Holt)

Emmitt House – Built as a hotel along the canal in 1861, the Emmitt House, last serving as a restaurant, was reportedly haunted by multiple spirits. The smell of cigar smoke attributed to the building’s namesake, James E. Emmitt, was often present. Ghostly activities, such as mysterious loud noises and lights turning on and off, were reported. A helpful spirit even changed syrup in the soda fountain from time to time. Staff members reported seeing the apparition of a woman wearing an old-fashioned apron cleaning when no one should be there. Employees who worked in the basement had reported seeing the ghosts of slaves who may have died there while escaping the South through the Underground Railroad. Two ghostly children were said to roam the building as well, likely having been victims of a smallpox outbreak at the hotel. Sadly, the Emmitt House was lost to a fire that occurred on January 6, 2014.

Garnett Wilson Library – The library is haunted by the ghost of an elderly woman who appears to be in her late seventies. Witnesses have reported seeing her with her hair up in a bun, wearing an old red dress to her ankles and black shoes. She has often been seen holding an old book and a handkerchief in her hand. After being seen, she generally vanishes into thin air. Related: Contribution (Credits: Mike Hawk)

Pike Christian Academy – The elementary school and main building of the Pike Christian Academy is said to be haunted by several orphan children, specifically a little boy who roams around the building after school hours in the evening and throughout the night. Many teachers and faculty members are said to have seen him and describe him as a little blonde-haired boy dressed in rags. He most likely died in the building when it served as the Pike County Children’s Home in the 1800s through the early 1900s. It is said that the little boy’s ghost likes to turn lights out, turn faucets on and off, and pull pranks on faculty members who stay working late in the building. The building could be haunted by several other orphans as well. People have described being in the building late in the evening and hearing children laughing and running around the second floor when no one is there. The basement seems to be a strong area for paranormal activity, with people having experienced children’s laughter, the door slamming shut on them, and lights strangely going out while downstairs. Since the building is now used as a religious school, the topic tends to be taboo with many of the staff members there, even if they have had experiences themselves.
