Three Creeks Metro Park

Three Creeks Metro Park, formerly known as Three Rivers, is by far one of the best Metro Parks in Columbus. The OES founding members began visiting the park when it was nothing more than a dirt path along the side of a pond with lots of overgrown grass and weeds. In the fall of 1998, the park service began developing the area into a new metro park. Three Creeks now includes over 30 miles of hiking, biking and unimproved trails. The park also includes playgrounds, sports fields, canoeing access, fishing and picnicking. More than 100 species of birds have been spotted within the park, including owls, the great blue heron, and even a bald eagle! Coyote, deer, beaver, and other wildlife call Three Creeks home. Three Creeks Metro Park spans 1,100 acres of forest, prairies, wetlands and fields. The photos below are from 2001, years before much of the park as it exists today was developed. If you’re ever in the area, make sure to stop by!
