Thomas Seeds Cemetery

The OES visited Thomas Seeds Cemetery on October 18, 2002. Established in 1855, Thomas Seeds Cemetery is located just off of Hoover Road in Jackson Township. Even though the cemetery was officially established in 1855, there were several tombstones that predated 1855, mostly children, with some as early as 1812. Veterans of both the War of 1812 and the Civil War are buried in the cemetery. Most of the tombstones ranged from the mid 1800s to early 1900s. Most of the markers were in decent shape but some were weathered or broken beyond repair. Jackson Township trustees who care for the cemetery have repaired and replaced some gravestones, but not all were placed back in their original location. A new sign was erected during the Spring of 2008, rechristening the cemetery as the Seeds Family Cemetery as there was no record of a Thomas Seeds.
