The OES visited the Ray Watkins Cemetery on
November 27, 2001. We originally thought this was Stimmel Cemetery, but later
found otherwise. Located off of Parsons Avenue in far-south Columbus, this
cemetery was founded in 1830. The oldest stones we could find dated to 1856. The
township takes nice care of this cemetery, even though the heavy iron gate was
broken and held in place by a few pieces of wire. Most of the
tombstones were in pretty good condition for the most part. There were only a
few that are broken or knocked over. Thanks goes to the nice guy at Fisher's
Greenhouse for the information he provided and giving us permission.
