The OES visited the Vietnam Wall Experience
on August 29, 2004. The Experience is a traveling replica of the Vietnam Wall
Memorial in Washington, DC that travels across the country. It lists more than
58,000 servicemen and women who died or are MIA in Vietnam. We visited the eight
foot high, 240 foot long memorial at Kingwood Memorial Park at approximately
1:45 AM, and were surprised to see how many people were there. Looking at all of
the names on the wall, it was hard to imagine that all of them were actual
people who were lost to war. Once one has visited the memorial, be it the
replica or the one in DC, you will definitely walk away with respect to those
who paid the ultimate price serving for their country.
