| The OES visited the Thomas Seeds Cemetery on October 18, 2002. Established in 1855, Thomas Seeds Cemetery is located just off of Hoover Road in Jackson Township of Franklin County. Even though the official founding was in 1855, there are several tombstones, many of them children, who were buried before the cemetery was founded, some as early as 1812. Soldiers of both the War of 1812 and the Civil War can be found buried here. Most dates on the stones range from the mid-1800s to the early-1900s. Many of the stones are in decent shape, but others have been weathered and broken beyond repair. Jackson Township Trustees, who care for the cemetery, have repaired and replaced some of the stones, but some were not placed back in their original location. |
