The OES visited the Paint Creek Schoolhouse on October 18, 2002. We stumbled upon the school as we were driving down Selsor-Moon Road looking for the Pancake Schoolhouse. The Paint Creek School was probably built in the mid to late 1800s, possibly even going into the early 1900s. From what we could tell from the road it was a one room schoolhouse and had been abandoned for quite some time. On our visit it was being used to store hay and some junk. The front of the building was in pretty bad shape. It wouldn't be surprising if the front wall collapsed in the near future. We could not get close enough to the school to take inside photos because there were several large bulls roaming the same field where the building stood.
