| The OES visited Marcy Cemetery on June 23, 2002. Located just outside the hamlet of Macy, Ohio, this small cemetery sits just east of Slate Run Park in Pickaway County. The oldest stone we found in the cemetery dated to 1870 belonging to a Civil War soldier named Aron Dum. The hamlet of Marcy had a post office set up in 1857, which may date back to near the time the cemetery was founded. Most of the tombstones are in fairly good shape. Although the cemetery appears not to be in use any longer, the most recent burial here took place in 1999. Helen Chenoweth is who the newer grave belongs to. Being born in 1911, perhaps she wanted to be buried with her family and/or ancestors. |
