The OES visited Ashville Cemetery on June 19, 2003. This is a fairly small cemetery, probably dating back to the 1830s when Ashville was founded. Many of the tombstones were in good condition, but some have seen their share of weathering and vandalism. The oldest tombstone we were able to locate belonged to Catherine Hott, dating back to 1835. Her husband Jacob was a veteran of the War of 1812. Veterans of the Civil War are buried within the cemetery grounds as well. The cemetery seemed to still be actively used as far as we could tell.
