The OES visited the Thomas Adams Cemetery on
May 7, 2001. Thomas Adams Cemetery was
founded in 1850, and the oldest date found on a tombstone was 1851.
Records indicate that the cemetery is also called Barbee Cemetery. All of the stones here are in good condition, but there are no recognized soldiers buried here. Notice that
there are two separate conglomerations of graves, in the opposing corners of the
site. Could this be to separate cemeteries, Thomas Adams and Barbee? We found the actual grave of Thomas Adams, who died on August 8, 1872. He
was 66 years, 10 months, and 11 days old when he died. Overall, this cemetery
seems to be very well taken care of.
